The highlight of the day-long pooram (festival) is a grand procession of about 33 gaily-caparisoned elephants in the evening. Traditional temple percussion ensemble accompanies the pageant.
About 16 well-decorated kuthiras (horse motifs) and eight kaalas (bull motifs) are also brought in a procession to the temple by devotees. Art forms like Vellattu, Poothanum Thirayum, Aandi Vedan, Karivela, Kumbhamkali (dancing with pots) etc are presented. Another highlight of the festival is the presentation of Tholpavakoothu (shadow puppetry).
